LiftComm is proud to support the latest accessibility milestone at Queensboro Plaza Station, where the MTA has completed a brand-new elevator on the station’s North Side. This upgrade gives the station full elevator coverage on both sides of one of Queens’ busiest transit hubs — benefiting nearly 100,000 daily riders.

And as with other major accessibility projects across the system, LiftComm intercoms are a critical part of the solution.

Intercoms That Do More Than Meet Code

Under ASME A17.1-2019, all public elevator systems must include two-way communication that is accessible to passengers with hearing, speech, or visual impairments. That’s not a suggestion — it’s a standard.

LiftComm’s intercom platform doesn’t just check the compliance box — it raises the standard for what accessibility-focused elevator communication should be:

  • Integrated voice and text communication in one device
  • 7” touchscreen display with high-contrast visuals and intuitive UI
  • SIP compliant for seamless integration with call centers
  • Google Maps capability for accurate location reporting during emergencies
  • Built with durability in mind for high-traffic, transit-heavy environments

Most intercom systems rely on separate hardware for voice and text. We built ours from the ground up to handle both — in one unit, with no compromises.

Queensboro Plaza: A Hub Made More Accessible

This newest elevator joins two others previously installed on the South Side of the station, giving riders more efficient access across platforms and significantly improving the experience for:

  • Riders with disabilities
  • Seniors
  • Parents with strollers
  • Travelers carrying luggage

With nearly 100,000 people using Queensboro Plaza every day, infrastructure upgrades like these make a tangible difference. We’re proud that LiftComm's intercom system is part of making that difference possible.

Compliance Backed by Real-World Performance

The 1400EAV intercom by LiftComm was designed specifically to meet ASME A17.1-2019 and ADA standards for elevator communication. But more importantly, it’s trusted by the MTA — one of the busiest and most demanding transit systems in the world.

Why? Because it works.
In crowded environments, under pressure, during high call volume — our systems deliver consistent, accessible communication.

And unlike one-size-fits-all vendors, we’ve designed every component with transit use cases in mind — from platform call boxes to elevator cabs.

Proven in New York. Built for Anywhere.

From Queensboro Plaza to Hunter College to Queens Plaza South, LiftComm has become a trusted provider of elevator intercom solutions that prioritize compliance, clarity, and accessibility.

We’re not here to follow trends. We’re here to lead in a category that’s too important to get wrong.
