12/4/2021 – New York, NY – Lift Communications (LiftComm) is proud to announce the successful integration of our advanced intercom systems in newly replaced elevators at the 181 St station and other deep stations in Upper Manhattan. As part of a broader effort to enhance accessibility, these upgrades ensure reliable communication and safety for all passengers, including those with visual and hearing impairments.

Our intercom systems now provide vital two-way communication for the station's elevators, which reach depths of up to 122 feet. This is especially crucial for emergency situations where immediate assistance is required. The recent project included the installation of a battery backup system, ensuring that even in power outages, communication remains uninterrupted, allowing passengers to exit safely.

Eric Schnabolk, President of LiftComm, emphasized the importance of this upgrade, stating, "Our technology is designed to keep everyone connected, especially in critical moments. Ensuring reliable communication in these stations is essential for passenger safety and accessibility."

The completion of the elevator replacements across five deep stations, including 181 St, marks a significant milestone in the MTA's ongoing efforts to improve transit infrastructure. These stations serve thousands of commuters daily, and the new systems are set to enhance their travel experience by providing secure and accessible communication options.
