As part of a broader initiative to improve ADA compliance and the overall transit experience, LiftComm by TEC’s intercoms play a critical role in ensuring that passengers, including those with communicative impairments, can access emergency assistance via voice or text.

Enhancing Passenger Safety and Accessibility

The newly installed intercom systems at Queensboro Plaza ensure that passengers, including those with hearing, vision, or speech impairments, can effectively communicate with rescue dispatch, providing an added layer of safety and independence in emergency situations. These systems are designed to meet the stringent requirements of the ASME A17.1/CSA B44-2019 codes, ensuring reliable and accessible communication under all circumstances.

As part of the ongoing modernization efforts, the Queensboro Plaza upgrade aims to improve safety, efficiency, and accessibility for the station's 97,000 daily riders.
