The MTA recently unveiled two modernized elevators at the 66th St–Lincoln Center subway station as part of its ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and reliability across New York City Transit. Behind the scenes, LiftComm played a critical role, bringing a level of security and system reliability no other elevator communication provider can match.

At a time when many companies are pushing cloud-based solutions with limited control, LiftComm remains the only provider in the industry offering a fully on-premises elevator communication system. For clients like the MTA, that difference matters.

Why the MTA Relies on LiftComm

Elevator modernization projects are about more than just compliance and accessibility. They’re also about infrastructure security, emergency preparedness, and operational uptime. The MTA selected LiftComm for this project because our solution meets those needs without compromise.

At the 66 St–Lincoln Center station, LiftComm’s team delivered a system that:

  • Runs entirely on-premises, with no cloud dependencies

  • Meets and exceeds ASME 17.1-2019 elevator communication standards

  • Includes talk and text capabilities for users with hearing, vision, or speech impairments

  • Was pre-configured at our facility through our Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) process for plug-and-play installation

  • Offers optional Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) with remote or in-person support from LiftComm engineers

The result? A fully compliant, secure elevator communication system that is reliable, scalable, and hardened for one of the most demanding transit environments in the country.

Built for Transit, Trusted by Critical Infrastructure

Many elevator communication systems rely on the cloud. But in government and transit settings, that’s a risk. LiftComm’s system is designed to operate completely within your network, ensuring sensitive infrastructure isn’t dependent on third-party servers or exposed to unnecessary vulnerabilities.

This approach is why LiftComm is the preferred provider for transit authorities, municipalities, and agencies that cannot afford downtime or compromise on security. Whether your project involves one elevator or one hundred, we build relationships directly with the end user, offering long-term support and unmatched reliability.

The Most Secure Elevator Phone on the Market

LiftComm’s emergency elevator phone, the TEC-1400EAV, is not just compliant. It’s the most secure solution available today. With support for both voice and SMS, full on-prem configuration, and integration flexibility, our system goes beyond the minimum. It’s built for environments that demand more.
